Resumen
Esta revisión contribuye a un entendimiento más profundo sobre el significado de calidad de vida desde la perspectiva del consumo. Se presentan diferentes motivaciones de consumidores, asàcomo también la contribución de los ricos y pobres a los patrones no sustentables de consumo. Esta revisión abre la discusión sobre la compleja relación que existe entre consumo, valores, identidad y los mecanismos para hacer decisiones de compra en un contexto globalizado y a la luz de la literatura relacionada. Modelos económicos más locales y simples son descritos como estrategias positivas por considerarlas formas nuevas de percibir un estilo de vida más simple y más local como positivo para el ambiente. Esta revisión enfatiza la importancia de los valores culturales y éticos, los cuales están directamente ligados a los patrones de consumo.
