Abstract

In evaluating the contributions of Genetics to evolutionary theory, I will refer to three periods of approximately 50 years each, more or less overlapping between them. The first, from 1859 to 1909, is characterized because the publication of the work The Origin of Species brought with it a revolution in thought and a turn towards philosophical materialism.
