Abstract

Phytochemical research is not only interested in discovering the possibility of new drugs for immediate therapeutic use, but also, and perhaps especially, because the new substance, as has happened in the case of quinine, cocaine, and curare, can serve as a starting point for the chemical synthesis of a whole new pharmacodynamic family.
