Abstract

To a 54 years old female patient, resident of Quito, with a clinical history of a chronic pain localized in the right side of the abdomen, the routine examination showed a (63%) eosinophil count and in the cholecystography, lithiasis was observed.

Because of this lesion, the patient was surgically treated. During surgery the liver showed in its surface a great number of rounder yellow-grey nodules, her in consistency. The histopathological examination demonstrated that this was a case of distomatosis caused by Larvae migrans. Later on the diagnosis was confirmed by the presence of eggs of Faciola hepatica in the bile.

For the specific post-operatory treatment, emetine chloride was added, observing an over all improvement in the patient along with the disappearance of the eosinophilia.
