Abstract

In order to adjust the national data and show the methodology for provincial and local adjustments, late registrations of live births are calculated based on information from the Institute of Statistics and Censuses. A more appropriate denominator is obtained for the calculations of infant and maternal mortality, and the coverage estimates of the vaccination program and others. This data is compared with the total number of registrations in the year, to highlight the inconvenience of its use, as well as the inconvenience of opting for the projections of the number of children under one year of age as an alternative for estimating live births.
