Main Article Content
Abstract
In 1959, De Castro and Mundeleer introduced a new technique in general anesthesia, called neuroleptoanalgesia, consisting of the simultaneous administration of a neuroleptic drug with an analgesic drug. This association, according to preliminary observations, produces a minimal cardiovascular change and an acceptable decrease in reflex activity". The drugs used during this initial period called Neuroleptoanalgesia I., were: Aloperidol, Fentanyl, Palfium and Pethidine.
From 1962, when the association began to be used: dehydrobenzoperidol and Fentanyl, it was called the period of Neuroleptoanalgesia II.
