Parasites and parasitosis in the Colón archipelago (Galápagos)

Abstract

In the studies of the flora and fauna of the Galapagos Islands, those related to Human Parasitology are of special interest. In the biological concert of the Enchanted Islands, as they are also known, man cannot be ignored, despite the adverse factors of the soil for its integral development. The precarious hygienic conditions of the house; demographic movement, stimulated above all by trade and tourism; contact with the rich and varied domestic and wild fauna: the use of a large part of this fauna for food and industry, and the scarce sanitary control are important factors that should favor the increase in these Islands of human and veterinary parasitism .
