Main Article Content
Abstract
A clinical case of a 9 years old boy, residing in Quito (2,782 m.s.n.), who stayed for 28 days in Santo Domingo de Los Colorados (550 m.s.n.) and on his return to Quito presented slight signs of circulatory failure, the same ones that worsened when making a great effort. The picture culminated in acute pulmonary edema. High-altitude pulmonary edema was diagnosed. Treatment based on oxygen and rest produced rapid improvement.
