Vasopressor effect of reserpine in rabbit vascular preparation
Main Article Content
Abstract
One of the most important pharmacodynamic actions of reserpine, and which is observed both in man and in experimental animals, is arterial hypotension. Some authors, however, have verified a very evident initial hypertensive effect when high doses of this drug are administered intravenously. Moyer' demonstrated in dogs anesthetized with morphine and pentobarbital that an intravenous dose of 3 to 1 mg of reserpine produced, after 10 to 20 minutes, a considerable increase in blood pressure.
