Induction of labor with 17-beta-estradiol
Main Article Content
Abstract
In 32 pregnant women between the ages of 18 and 40, induction of labor was tested by administering 200 mg of 17-beta-estradiol, in the form of intravenous infusion. In 4 patients the dose was increased to 400 mg.
In 70% of the patients, the cervix ripened and in more than 50% the uterine contractions started or increased 30 minutes after starting the venoclysis. In 15 patients additional administration of oxytocics was necessary and in a few patients, surgical intervention was essential.
