Abstract

The old syndrome called irritable bowel can be divided into: secondary, when it is secondary to an obvious organic lesion, as occurs in amoebiasis, or other intestinal parasitosis; in certain infections, in diverticulosis, etc. Primary, when an organic lesion of the colon, neither digestive nor extra-digestive, is evident.
