Abstract

Three new species of Magnolia sect. Talauma for Guatemala are described: Magnolia alfredo-mironii and Magnolia stefaniana from the cloud forest of the department of Alta Verapaz, while Magnolia izabalensis was recorded in the tropical rain forest of the department of Izabal. For each species, a taxonomic description, photographs and a distribution map are presented. Additionally, the differences with its morphologically closest species are discussed, and their conservation status is analyzed.
