History of medicine in the province of Manabí

Abstract

The History of Medicine of the Province of Manabí, within the national medical Historiography and even within the South American Historiography presents for the doctor and the historian peculiar aspects and of indisputable importance. The pre-Inca civilizations have a special physiognomy in this sector of the Pacific coast that is reflected and projected in the medicine of the place. The legends of the giants with the practices of Sodom: the wealth of anthropomorphic stones and pottery with pathological representations; its bas-reliefs with sexological and maternity motifs.
