Abstract

This syndrome, originally observed in 1812 and described in 1942 by Klinefelter, Reifenstein, and Albright, is characterized by sterility, small atrophic testes with specific histologic changes, elevated urinary pituitary gonadotropin, and sometimes some degree of eunuchoidism. Generally, the penis is of normal size; the 17 ketosteroids are normal norms. The clinical picture is highly variable; sometimes there is a mental deficiency, feminized obesity and a family incidence has been determined.
