Editorial process
Manuscripts submitted to the Revista Ecuatoriana de Medicina y Ciencias Biológicas (REMCB) undergo a double-blind peer review process. The editorial committee conducts an initial evaluation within the first 30 days from the submission date. The committee may reject a manuscript without reviewer evaluation if the content falls outside the journal's areas of interest or accepted formats, and it reserves the right to reject manuscripts that do not meet the journal's formatting or submission requirements. Articles deemed suitable will be assigned to reviewers based on the manuscript's specific content. If there is a disagreement between the two initial reviewers, a third reviewer will be consulted. The final decision lies with the editorial committee.
The entire editorial evaluation process takes 150 days. Manuscripts that receive positive feedback but require modifications will be returned to the authors to implement the requested revisions or modifications suggested by the reviewers. The corrected manuscript must be resubmitted within a maximum of 15 days, accompanied by a response letter addressing the reviewers' comments.
Accepted articles will proceed to the layout process. Authors will receive the formatted proofs for review and approval within a maximum of 48 hours. Once the layout is approved, a publication authorization will be requested, which the corresponding author must submit to the journal prior to publication. All accepted articles will be assigned a DOI.
Authors agree to serve as reviewers for the REMCB, if requested, for two years following the publication of their manuscript.
